Oklahoma State Fair - Lights at Night - Tuesday

Hey guys. Just coming back to post up some pictures from day 2 of my Okie State Fair adventures.

Day 2 consisted mostly of night shots. It was really fun experimenting with long shutter speeds and what rides created certain effects.

But not before snapping a few other pictures before the sun went completely down. :) This adorable little girl was feeding a goat at the petting zoo. Too cute.

I loved the silly lettering on this sign. And of course all the weird carnies offering me darts.

My favorite fair food. By far.  And the ride I will never be going on. Ever.

Aaannndd.. another ride I wont be going on....Pretty cool how the people in this picture stayed somewhat sharp while the rest of the ride got some motion. and how no one looks too alarmed.

That same ride later that night. And another motion shot of the carousel. I loved how these rides are virtually unrecognizable once you start playing with shutter speed.

I loved the effects this ride made with a long shutter speed.

Probably the funniest part of the evening though was when this guy that barely spoke english came up to us and said "You like my baby?" in which we responded by snapping a bunch of pictures. It was just too funny not to post.

Oklahoma State Fair - Day 1 - Sunday

It is that time of year again. The Oklahoma State Fair. As much as I have a love/hate relationship with living in Oklahoma... The state fair is one of the opportunities that I can binge out on our culture here and actually love every minute of it.

I brought my camera this year and that turned out to be a ton of fun so I decided to come back Tuesday as well. However those haven't been edited yet. So here are my pics from Sunday.

So I just want to show you guys a few of the sites you may see at the Okie State Fair if you have never been. :)

First thing's first. You must find beer.

DSC_0046E   DSC_0061E
After finding said beer. You must become ready to be a true Okie. By posing like this.
Then if you have 25 dollars to waste on a old timey photo, do so. If you are like us, then keep the money to spend on fried food and beer.

DSC_0055E
If you have even more money to waste, buy pointless ugly figurines.
Note the sign though. It said there would be a $5 charge for photos.
I took a photo and walked away just to spite them.

Droool...

Find cute baby farm animals to go "Awwweee!" at. :)

What is it with girls and horses? I have to stop and pet them every time. Love them.

This one had one blue eye and one brown eye. So pretty.

And of course it is always nice to see other cultures at the State Fair.

Jon Hamm. AKA. Don Draper.

I have no real update today but to marvel at Jon Hamm and to note that he is even hotter when he Isn't Don Draper.

Ok it might be a little obvious that I watched the latest episode of Mad Men last night. ;)

Lestat the Mantis.

While I am wading through pictures that need to be edited, I figured I would blog about my little friend I found in my shoe the other morning.

But the funnier part of this story is that my blogger friend over at JeremyandKathleen blogged about her Mantis friend named Sweettooth, And I had commented on her Flickr photo that I really wanted a Mantis to come visit me too. This was about a month ago.

So be careful what you wish for, or you might just get a praying Mantis showing up in your shoe one morning.

DSC_0843E
It was one of the many weekends where I woke up on my couch after passing out watching a movie on it the night before. When I woke up I looked over at my shoe and was amazed to find this lil guy. I frantically searched for my camera and just had to get some pictures.

DSC_0859E    DSC_0867E
The one on the left is slightly blurry but I loved the detail on the tail. And the other one made me think of what he would look like if he were 10 feet tall on the top of a building. I know. My imagination goes wild sometimes. (I am just glad they don't really grow that big).

DSC_0869E
Thats when he posed for me. After seeing that stare from him I decided to name him Lestat (Interview with a Vampire). Because he looked friendly but slightly like he would eat me for dinner if I was small enough. :)

DSC_0876E    DSC_0877E
But, although I was tempted to keep him as a pet, it just didn't seem right. He needed to be set free to devour the bugs on my porch. At first I placed him on the concrete where flies gather, then I thought..there is a reason why they have such lovely camouflage. And I placed him on a leaf.

DSC_0880E
He did one last pose for me then was on his way up into the tall bush next to my house.

Maybe I will be as lucky as Kathleen again and he will come back to see me sometime. :)

Chouse.

Hey guys. Just wanted to do a quick update of some pics that I've had for quite a while but realized I never actually blogged about.

I was asked to take these pics by my friend Josh Jones of the Evangelicals. His long time hero, Tyson Meade of The Chainsaw Kittens, was visiting Oklahoma from China. Josh has loved The Chainsaw kittens since his childhood and is heavily influenced by Tyson's style. So when he asked me to do some photos of Tyson and Josh as a promo for an acoustic live show they were doing together, I was flattered.

The show was at a Church in Norman, Ok that was turned into a house (affectionately called "Chouse"). So Josh's idea was for him and Tyson to put on their Sunday best, and for us to shoot at a church somewhere in OKC. So after a little bit of thought, I thought the Old Trinity of Paseo in Oklahoma City's Arts District would be perfect.

One of my favorites from the day. I loved the colors Tyson chose to wear.

I loved his faces.

A couple of good individual ones of them.

If you knew how much Josh looks up to Tyson, you would know why its hilarious that this photo looks so much like a wedding shot. haha.

PS. Yes I took pics at the actual show. Those are yet to be uploaded to my flickr. Post soon on those pics.

Playing Catch Up...

I haven't had my computer in over a week! Needless to say I've gotten a lil behind in my posts.

3 posts on the way! But for now, here is a pic of me taken recently for my friend's Etsy store.
