I suppose it's a little nerdy that I'm actually excited to go see this tonight. Information design fascinates me. Anyone that can take a boring chart or tedious form and make it more exciting to fill out or easy to use/read has immediately earned my respect.

Blue goes Green & Recycling Posters

Click to see the larger image.

A couple of recent posters I did for work. We are starting a campus wide recycling program and needed a promotional poster, and a poster to hang above the recycle bins.

The one at the top is for the recycling bins, they wanted the logo (that i didnt design) to be the focal point because that is going to be the symbol on the bins and they want the students to become very familiar with it.

The one below is the one promoting/informing about the campus organization that is responsible for developing/moving these projects forward (also: Our school mascot is the star and our color is blue, hence my concept of a blue star becoming a green tree).

So far this has been my favorite project to work on.

This is a cute idea. But also the image immediately struck me.

It reminds me of the strength of nature to persevere in the face of human works.

It made me see weeds in a different light for a moment. The characteristics of a weed are something I wouldn't mind cultivating from time to time. :)

50 Must Have Photoshop Brushes

I recently found these handy for a poster I just did.

The fabric ones and the watercolor ones are my favorite.

Enjoy.

Im getting my hair colored like this on tuesday. Not chopping it off but adding a few layers. Hopefully the red will go over well on my light brown hair. The gold should be nice too. I've just gotten so bored with my medium brown hair, I wanted to do something crazy for spring.

Note to self:

Don't go to the junk store when you are trying to save money for a trip. It's just too painful even if it is really cheap.
Im obsessed with This Blog.

Yeah, yeah. I know. It's closed up shop. But looking at the archives is pretty cool because she has a billion good tips for scrappily decorating a new apartment with vintage stuffs. Granted she owns hers and has a bit more freedom, but oh well, there is still stuff a renter can take away from it.

"While the survivor becomes more adventurous in her own world during this period, her life at the same time becomes more ordinary. As she reconnects with herself, she feels calmer and better able to face her life with equanimity. At times, this peaceable day-to-day existence may feel strange, especially to survivors who have been raised in a traumatic environment and are experiencing normality for the first time. Whereas in the past survivors often imagined that ordinary life would be boring, now they are bored with the life of a victim and ready to find ordinary life interesting."

"At this point also the survivor can sometimes identify positive aspects of the self that were forged in the traumatic experience, even while recognizing that any gain was achieved at far too great a price."
